Once upon a time, back in the exciting 60’s, a handsome young Spaniard won Wimbledon - and many of our fickle girlish hearts.
Time passed, and our Beatle-mania and Flower-Power days were replaced by mortgages, careers and the joys of children.
Eventually, we migrated towards sun, a more relaxed life style, and an escape from the rat-race …little realising that our pin-up of those earlier years was here to welcome us into his exclusive Tennis and Paddle Club on the Costa del Sol!
Hidden away at the beginning of the Istan road, this thriving Sports Centre incorporates a fully equipped gymnasium with fitness trainers available at all times, a swimming pool and immaculately kept gardens, a sauna, a dance studio, a superb restaurant, a bar with outstanding tapas, and a sunny patio from which to watch the matches being played. There is a full programme of classes ranging from Yoga to Body Toning via Martial Arts, contemporary dance and aerobics. The children are taken care of by means of various well-organised activities including a Kids Club in the Summer Holidays.
Manolo and his lovely wife, Otti, have their fingers well and truly on the pulse (helped by their friendly bi-lingual reception staff) and can usually be found using the facilities and socialising with the members, as well as bringing us other famous tennis names for memorable summer evening tennis tournaments – last year we were delighted by Ille Nastase and Bjorn Borg among others.
All in all this club is a “find” – not only for the sports-minded but also for the discerning diner who can enjoy a plato del dia, a full a la carte or a range of mouthwatering tapas served in a superb setting with a friendly (and famous) host.

Get set for a sizzling Summer

Known worldwide as The Sexiest Place on Earth and voted The Best Beach Club 2005, Nikki Beach Marbella opened for lunch on Wednesday April 12 following extensive winter remodeling.

Brought to life on the Costa del Sol

The king of Rock n Roll is alive and kicking on the Costa del Sol!

In Johnny G´s sensational act, this young entertainer portrays the life and music of Elvis Presley, from his slick “ Hound Dog” days right through to the unforgettable big ballads of Las Vegas.

We caught up with Johnny G last Sunday night at the Miraflores Tennis Club to enjoy a nostalgic evening of the great Rock n Roll years.

The smouldering look, the husky voice, the gyrating hips, he´s got it all. In fact the only difference between Johnny G and the man himself must be that Elvis did it first! Johnny G delighted fans as he meandered amongst them, serenading screaming girls and silver haired grannies and retreated as they started to throw their underwear.

By the end of the evening everyone was on their feet. Even the over 50´s put on their dancing shoes, moving and a grooving, puffing and a panting, to recapture the old magic of yesteryear.

Eventually the sad announcement came “Elvis has left the building” but with boundless energy Johnny G. returned to round off the evening with his own brand of rock n roll greats. Many encores later we were into the wee hours before the perspiring fans would accept the final announcement “Johnny G has left the building”
